5th February 2019
Dear Parents / Guardians,
Ski Trip 15-22 Feb 2020
I am extremely pleased to announce the school is planning to run a ski trip in the February half term 2020 to Nassfeld, Austria. The trip will depart from a Northwest airport on 15th February for 8 days and 7 nights. Nassfeld has recently undergone something of a transformation with the increase in the amount of skiing available, and the addition of the Millennium Gondola. This, it is claimed, is the longest gondola in Europe, and has put Nassfeld right onto the keen skier’s map, with extensive and convenient skiing to suit every member of the group. With most slopes north facing, comprehensive snow cannon coverage, and lifts to over 2000m, you can depend on snow conditions being excellent at Nassfeld.
A school ski trip can be the opportunity of a lifetime. Your child will get to challenge themselves both mentally and physically and be given the opportunity to become independent, make decisions for themselves and others and to socialise with students from all different year groups to form unique bonds. This truly can be a life changing experience.
This trip will be suitable for all students, whether they are absolute beginners or experienced Skiers. I am aware of the cost of the trip and am giving as much notice as possible to allow payment to be spread over the greatest period of time. The price of the trip is £1330 and can be spread across the year with a payment plan. Preferred payment method is online via scopay. The initial non-refundable deposit is £200 and needs to be paid by Friday 15th February.

As there are only 35 places available, places will be offered on a first come first served basis. No places will be reserved without a deposit.
Attendance for students going on the trip must not drop below 95%, and we also reserve the right to refuse a place to students whose behaviour in school so far has been unacceptable, or withdraw students whose Behaviour Points become a cause for concern during the year. Once a place has been definitely confirmed, we are unable to refund any subsequent payments unless a replacement student is available, as the money will have already been sent to the travel company. Only extreme cases are covered by the insurance policy – a change in financial circumstances or a change of mind are not considered valid reasons for cancellation by insurance companies and cannot therefore be refunded by the travel company or ourselves. The trip must be paid in full by Friday 22nd November 2019 as we have to pay the final balance to the travel company a week after this date.
If we fill all the places and your child doesn’t manage to get a place, we can put your child on a reservation list in case of drop outs or instances of poor behavior.
As this trip runs over 2 academic years it is vital that your child completes and returns the Educational Visits form in January 2020 otherwise your child will not be allowed to attend the trip as it is vital on a trip like this that we have current and up to date medical information.
In order for your child to attend this visit they must have a passport with at least 6 months valid on the day of return of the trip. We will request passports when the travel agent informs us that they require the details.
If you would like to secure a place on the trip for your child, please can you fill in the slip below and return it to the White Box in Student Services after having had approval from your child’s Head of Year on the reply slip on or before Friday 15th February. If too many students apply, all students will have their names drawn out of a hat, to make it a fair chance for every student, no places will be reserved without a deposit. Any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me.
If you are happy and would like your child to take part in this event, please return the Permission Slip below to the White Box in Student Services, FAO Mrs L Sykes no later than Friday 15th February.
